TYPE                           Single-chine plywood/epoxy sharpie power cruiser; diesel-powered cruising yacht. Hull is based on the New Haven oystering model. Vessel intended for use in semi-protected waters, coastwise and open waters in settled weather. Hull will semi-plane with moderate power on flat water, providing excellent efficiency for cruising at moderate speeds with very low fuel consumption.

POWER                        Inboard diesel, 75 to 120 hp. In calm conditions a cruising speed of 10 kts should be achieved at a fuel consumption of 2 gallons per hour or less. Diesel located under easy-access protected cover on the fantail deck where heat, noise and fumes are isolated from living space. Transmission is a Hurth HSV-250 Vee-drive, which has no power loss in conversion.

ACCOMMODATIONS      Two private double cabins. Full heads are provided for each cabin. Lounge in pilothouse. Full galley and settee/dinette in main cabin. Large covered fantail deck with table over engine compartment, room for director chairs, lounging, etc. Fantail roof can be hard top or removable canvas. Large foredeck. A ten-foot dinghy or two can be carried on the house coachroof.

CAPACITIES                Fuel: 290 gal. Water: 335 gal.

CONSTRUCTION         Cold-molded plywood/epoxy covered with epoxy-impregnated polyester cloth. Bottom: double-diagonal ¾” marine ply; Topsides 1” marine ply; Decks ½” marine ply. Cabin sides and coachroofs ply/foam core sandwich. Construction is based on using full sheets of plywood wherever possible, minimizing cutting and waste. Very simple and economical to build. Extremely low maintenance to own.

PLANS                        Full construction plans include THE SHARPIE BOOK, Construction Notes and full-size Construction Details. As the hull is built around her bulkheads, lofting and construction are greatly simplified.

OPTIONS                    This vessel may also be built as a motorsailer, with a centerboard (the trunk is located under the pilot-house sole). These and other variations to the design are available on a custom design basis. Please write or call us for further information.
