DISPLACEMENT | 9,000 lbs (approx) |
TYPE | Single-chine cold-molded plywood powerboat; twin-screw diesel inboard cruising yacht. This vessel is moderately offshore capable, with trips to Cuba, the Bahamas and beyond practical during settled weather. |
CONSTRUCTION | Cold-molded plywood / epoxy covered with epoxy-impregnated polyester cloth. Bottom two layers 5/8″; sides one layer 5/8″; decks foam-core/ply sandwich; self-draining cockpit & lockers. |
PLANS | Full construction plans are $850, which include THE SHARPIE BOOK, construction notes and construction details. The hull is built around her bulkheads, greatly simplifying lofting and construction. |
CAPACITIES | Fuel: 135gal. (aluminum tank centered). Water:90 gal. (p&s in bladder tanks). Cruising speed is 12 to 24 knots. |
POWER | Twin Yanmar 4JH4HTE with KM4A2 7-degree down-angle transmissions |
OPTIONS | This vessel may also be powered with naturally-aspirated diesels (Yanmar 4JH4s) or stage one turbo diesels (Yanmar 4JH4HE). Fuel economy will be increased at the expense of power and top speed. Different interiors can be designed on a custom basis. Bear in mind that standing headroom is limited to 6’ 2” in the cabin and pilothouse (as originally designed), and should not be increased more than 1”. |
DESIGN | Reuel Parker |
NOTE | This design is intended to be fuel-efficient and environment friendly. The hull displacement distribution is based on engine weight and power limited to the twin diesels noted above. |
