Description
Study Plans for the Scow Schooner 45.
Several sail plans are included: traditional gaff rig, and two junk rigged, and a gaff yawl version.
Scows are roomy, very stiff, surprisingly seaworthy, and comfortable. And they are not slow — with adequate power scows easily achieve hull speed, and may exceed it.
Construction is simplified by “developable surfaces,” meaning flat panels may be curved to planks the hull. This includes sheet plywood, aluminum and steel.
